Get Up and Go

Guest Post By: Chris Steurer

When it comes to dieting, exercising, and just overall staying healthy, many of us would probably be classified as insane! How many times have you tried the same or very similar diets over and over again? How about the exercise routine you are doing, is it actually working and making results? Often times, we won’t even notice that we are beating ourselves up over something so silly and obvious, try something new!

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

-Albert Einstein

DO SOMETHING!

Do Something. If it works, do more of it. If it doesn’t, do something else.

-Franklin Roosevelt

Our former president sums things up pretty well for us in a simple quote. The point is, it doesn’t really matter what you do, it just matters that you are doing something. If and/or when that something stops working, then try something else!

Tony Horton and P90X: The Great Weight Loss Tool

I know most of you have probably heard about P90X or about the man behind it, Tony Horton. After hearing all the hype myself, I wondered if this man could live up to the new craze.
Tony Horton of P90X talking with film producer, Barry Roskin Blake
After our latest trip out to Los Angles, I must admit that he certainly does. Tony easily puts me to shame at the age 52 when it comes to his health, not to mention that the man looks like he’s almost twenty years younger. His physical prowess is amazing and he can do things that I have never seen anyone capable of.

As far as the weight loss angle goes, it’s merely impossible to shed your extra pounds if you really dedicate yourself to his program.

The great thing is not to look at it as a diet but just part of your daily life.

What effected me the most throughout our interview, was that he made sense of it all. The lightbulb went off in my head that being healthy wasn’t to be looked at as maintaining a temporary diet, but rather a necessity to your lifestyle. Being healthy seemed nothing less than common sense for me.

Now I must admit, I’m not the type of guy who watched his P90X videos. I figured there was no way a guy my size would ever be able to do what he does. But to my surprise, the program can be modified to help you at any size. Tony even gave me a demo of how he has people over that are over three hundred pounds that have had personal miracles thanks to Tony and their own hard work.

You and I are not the only ones that Tony helps to get back in shape. He has worked with dozens of celebrity clients and is one of the top guru’s in not only L.A., but the entire country.

Personally, I wasn’t sure of what to expect from a guy as famous and loved as Tony.
Within two minutes, he had me on the floor with laughter. He was a real person with common sense when it came to health and compassion when it came to training. He was the real deal.

I just watched the raw interview yesterday and could not believe how good it was.

Forgive me if I sound a little biased, but I can’t wait to finish this film so I can share this experience (among our other surprises) together with you all, on the big screen.

So thank you, Tony, for helping to make “Finding Thin” a film that can only be better with you in it.

Most importantly, thank you for giving me hope, and for making sense of this (now) seemingly nonsensical obesity epidemic.

A Post From The Biggest Loser Past

Over the past week, I have started to veer off onto a bad road where I haven’t been watching what I have been eating, I have not been exercising, and overall I have let stress get to me. All I needed was a little bit of inspiration to help me get back on track. This past weekend, I traveled down to Tennessee to meet with Jillian Michaels, Host of NBC’s Biggest Loser, were she is on the set of her new NBC show set to be aired this summer called “Loosing it with Jillian”.

I have always watched Jillian on TV and I know she is very smart and has a terrific presence on the show. I must admit however that I had no idea what it was going to be like meeting her in person and talking with her directly. After meeting her I realized she is exactly what we see on TV. Jillian is a terrific person who cares about people and wants to see them take care of themselves. She wants to figure out the bottom line for why we eat and why are we fat. Just listening to her tell her story growing up and hearing what she had to say about my story showed me Jillian speaks from the heart and knows her stuff to back it up.

What was very surprising for me was that there was a certain honesty and realness to Jillian. No sense of holding anything back or being pretentious. Just a very true person with deep emotions who actually really believes and cares about the peoples whose lives she helps. Jillian doesn’t try to make any pretence about being perfect and knowing it all but rather tries to concentrate on the good in everyone and bringing out their potential in leading better and healthier lives.

I take to heart Jillian’s method of weight issues, that there are underlying reasons behind being obese and eating. Before you can loose the weight, these issues must be addressed. Is this THE answer to the obesity issue? I think it is a big one, and definitely the biggest foot forward to helping. And if you don’t believe me you can see the tremendous out come in our interview with Jillian in the upcoming film “Finding Thin” and in June on NBC in “Loosing it with Jillian” debuting this summer.
